However, the heart of this exhibition is the work itself. The preserved organs, and more specifically those located in the Busturialdea-Urdaibai region, constitute the best testament to the technical and aesthetic evolution of the Alberdi firm. Their study allows us to trace the transition from instruments with traditional mechanical action to those with fully pneumatic action, paralleling the transformations within the European organ building sector during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Based on this dual approach—documentary and organological—the exhibition highlights the figure of an organ builder who is essential for understanding a key period in our musical heritage.
L’œuvre comme source
Toutefois, le cœur de cette exposition est l’œuvre elle-même.Les orgues conservés, et plus particulièrement ceux situés dans la région de Busturialdea-Urdaibai, constituent le meilleur témoignage de l’évolution technique et esthétique de la maison Alberdi. Leur étude permet de retracer le passage des instruments à transmission mécanique traditionnelle à ceux à transmission entièrement pneumatique, en parallèle aux transformations du secteur en Europe à la fin du XIXe siècle et au début du XXe siècle.
À partir de cette double approche — documentaire et organologique — l’exposition met en valeur la figure d’un facteur d’orgues essentiel pour comprendre une période clé de notre patrimoine musical.
