Whistles from Urdaibai: The Organ Builder Lope Alberdi
This exhibition rediscovers the legacy of Lope Alberdi (1868–1948), an organ builder from Busturialdea-Urdaibai who brought the sound of his instruments across the Iberian Peninsula and overseas to the Americas and the Philippines.
Today, his instruments continue to resound in Urdaibai as a living museum, allowing us to trace the evolution of the organ from mechanical to pneumatic action. Likewise, the exhibition serves as a reminder of the need to protect this valuable and endangered heritage.
Sifflements d’Urdaibai: le facteur d’orgues Lope Alberdi
Cette exposition met en lumière la figure de Lope Alberdi (1868-1948), facteur d’orgues originaire de Busturialdea-Urdaibai, qui a fait résonner ses instruments à travers la péninsule Ibérique et au-delà des océans, jusqu’aux Amériques et aux Philippines.
Aujourd’hui, ses orgues résonnent encore à Urdaibai, formant un véritable musée vivant qui permet de retracer l’évolution de l’instrument, de la traction mécanique à la traction pneumatique. Parallèlement, cette exposition rappelle la nécessité de sauvegarder ce précieux patrimoine aujourd’hui menacé.
