In the Shadow of the Master: Training and Evolution
Lope absorbed the secrets of the trade in the vibrant Barcelona of the late nineteenth century. He participated in major projects, such as the construction of the monumental organ for the Barcelona Universal Exhibition (1888), considered at the time to be the largest organ with electric action in the world. His skill led Amezua to entrust him, in 1890, with the installation of the organ of Santo Domingo in Manila.
Over time, Lope became Amezua’s indispensable right-hand man. When the master relocated to Azpeitia, he entrusted Lope with the management of the Barcelona workshop. From there, he took charge of essential instruments, including the organs of Durango (1894), Bera de Bidasoa (1896), Montserrat (1896), Chiquinquirá (1897), and Bogotá (1897).

Lope absorba les secrets du métier dans la Barcelone effervescente de la fin du siècle. Il participa à des réalisations majeures, comme la construction du monumental orgue de l’Exposition universelle de Barcelone (1888), considéré alors comme le plus grand orgue électrique au monde. Son habileté amena Amezua à lui confier, en 1890, le montage de l’orgue de Santo Domingo de Manille.
Avec le temps, Lope devint la main indispensable d’Amezua.
